# Understand the Six Pipeline Stages in arco

> Learn what each Pipeline stage means, how to move jobs between columns, and how Stage differs from Status in your job search tracker.

Your Pipeline Board has six columns that represent the lifecycle of a job application. Move a job by dragging its card between columns, or by changing the stage from the job's detail panel.

| Stage         | What it means                                                                                      |
| ------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **New** | Saved but not yet triaged. A holding area. |
| **Saved** | You have decided this one is worth pursuing. |
| **Applied** | Your application is in. |
| **Interview** | You are in an interview process. |
| **Offer** | You have an offer. |
| **Rejected** | The process ended without an offer. Cards here appear dimmed and stay in your Pipeline as history. |

## Stage vs Status

Stage is the column, one of the six above. It is broad, visual, and managed by drag-and-drop.

Status is a finer field available in List view: Not applied, Applied, Under review, Phone screen, Interviewing, Final round, Offer, Rejected, or Withdrawn. Status sits alongside Stage rather than replacing it.

<Note>
  Moving a card to a new column sets a sensible default Status the first time it enters that column. For example, moving to Interview sets Phone screen as a starting guess. If you have set a Status manually, it will not be overwritten.
</Note>

## Rejected vs Hidden

Rejected is a pipeline outcome: you applied and it did not work out. It stays as history.

Hidden means you dismissed a job from your Board before ever pursuing it. Hidden jobs do not appear in your Pipeline. See [Saving and hiding jobs](/job-matches/saving-and-hiding-jobs).
